[Exclusive] YANG, “BIGBANG & iKON First, then JINUSEAN”

YG’s BIGBANG and iKON will likely make a comeback and a debut this spring at the latest.


YG’s Executive Producer YANG told OSEN on Jan 27, “As we promised the fans, BIGBANG and iKON will be the first in line this year. We are doing our best to make it happen. We will return bearing good news on the two teams as their work is almost complete.”

BIGBANG’s comeback and iKON’s debut are the two major interests of the fans. BIGBANG promised to come back this year when they performed in Japan for the 5 Dome Tour in January.

Back then GD said in a press conference, “We want to focus on music. We will be back in summer. We promise to return with a good album. I hold responsibility for my own words.” TAEYANG added, “We will be back as a whole. Not as solos.”

On the other hand, iKON (members B.I, BOBBY, KIM JINHWAN, SONG YUNHYEONG, KOO JUNHOE, KIM DONGHYUK and JUNG CHANWOO), who was formed in November through the program “MIX & MATCH” had their first official performance when they opened BIGBANG’s 5 Dome Tour in Japan last year. Rumors have it that iKON members are devoting all their energy in producing new songs.

YG’s lineup of artists this year attracts much attention in the music world. Since MBC’s “Saturday, Saturday is for Singers” (Totoga), requests for JINUSEAN’s comeback is pouring in. But YG is set on releasing songs of BIGBANG and iKON first.

Most BIGBANG members are being involved in producing the songs, while the Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK is being in charge of iKON.

YANG commented, “We will keep the promise we made with the fans,” hinting the comeback and debut of BIGBANG and iKON are imminent. About JINUSEAN, he commented, “Much positive reviews have been seen after JINUSEAN’s performance on Totoga, and we are looking into the matter positively. But our current priority is BIGBANG and iKON.”

YG, “GD & Justin Bieber Collabo? NO: Working on BIGBANG’s Album”

 BIGBANG’s leader GD was mentioned in foreign media that he has just completed a collaboration project with the Canada-born artist Justin Bieber.

However, YG Entertainment denied and said such news is not true.

YG’s personnel said to Star News on Jan 27, “The news is of the past. They are not carrying it out anymore.”

“GD is devoting his time and energy working on BIGBANG’s upcoming new album. The news on the two artists collaborating is not true.”

The Chinese media claimed they quoted a tweet from Billboard about the two artists collaborating.

Japanese media including the Sankei Sports reported on Jan 18, after BIGBANG’s Osaka Kyocera Dome concert, “BIGBANG will be releasing their first album in 3 years. Leader GD announced that they will return with a good album and it excited the 50,000 fans in the dome.”

YG, “Studio filled with PSY, BIGBANG, iKON & WINNER in January”

YG Entertainment, one of the giant agencies in South Korea, is heightening expectations for the fans as it announced their recording studios are filled with their male artists BIGBANG, PSY, WINNER & iKON working on new songs.

Personnel from YG told Star News, “Several recording studios in the YG building are activated in full force as they are being used by mainly the male artists to record songs.”

They added, “Male artists from YG like PSY, BIGBANG, WINNER and iKON are planning on releasing new albums and songs in the first half of this year, so the studios are being used in full.”

“This will continue for the full month of January. If things go as planned, then you will be able to see several YG male artists in the first half of this year.”

YG earlier announced that iKON will release their official debut song in January at the earliest, while the world-star PSY will release a new song and an album in the first half of the year. And as the latest news on the studio being fully used is announced, it seems more likely that we will be able to see more than two YG male artists this year. It is not surprising that YG fans are getting more and more excited.
