From BIGBANG to iKON, WINNER & CL: 2015 Spring, Flooded with YG Artists

 From YG’s representing group BIGBANG to WINNER that debuted last year, and the already popular iKON even before their debut.


What’s more, CL from 2NE1 is gearing up for an entrance to the American market this spring.

CL and BIGBANG are to pave the way for YG’s younger artists. YG’s YANG HYUN SUK told OSEN previously, “As we promised the fans, BIGBANG and iKON will be the first in line to make a comeback and a debut. We are doing our best to make it come true,” hinting that the two groups are nearly ready to showcase their albums.

CL is currently in the middle of working on her album with many American musicians across various genres. America’s famous talent manager Scooter Braun supports CL, while the local media like Billboard, Rolling Stone and MTV are already keeping an eye on the upcoming debut of the South Korean diva.

Although not confirmed, YANG set April as BIGBANG’s comeback, and WINNER’s new album and iKON’s debut album to follow. Fans are certainly excited. The artists voluntarily gave up their lunar New Year holiday to prepare for the upcoming albums.

BIGBANG coming back as a whole is the first in 2 and a half years since June 2012. Fans have been extremely patient. Their expectations and excitement are escalating.

Many have their eyes on WINNER, to see what they will show us this year, following their successful debut last year. In their last album the members focused more on the melody than the visual performance, and many are curious if the upcoming one will be the same.

iKON is attracting much attention as well. “MIX & MATCH” aired from last September to November, the 7 members (B.I, BOBBY, KIM JINHWAN, SONG YUNHYEONG, KOO JUNHOE, KIM DONGHYUK and JUNG CHANWOO) were finalized on the program. iKON opened BIGBANG’s Japan 5 Dome Tour, and fans are excited to see how much they have grown since then.

Until now, YG announced musician’s comeback without much notice at all. Who knows whether EPIK HIGH, AKDONG MUSICIAN, LEE HI and JINUSEAN will follow these three groups. But either way, YG’s strong army of boy groups will surely heat up the music world in the first half of 2015.

BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON to Return in First Half of the Year

According to an exclusive report by TV Report, all the male idol groups under YG Entertainment—BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON—will be returning to the stage within the first half of the year.

On February 15, CEO Yang Hyun Suk revealed, “BIGBANG’s comeback has been hinted for April. For now, it’s been planned for April. However, if anything, it will be pulled earlier, but it will not be pushed back anymore. Following BIGBANG, their juniors are waiting. I think all three teams will each come out one month apart. You can think of it as the oldest brother coming out first.”

As the YG Entertainment CEO has stated, all of the agency’s boy groups are gearing up to make a comeback before the second half of the year begins. Starting with BIGBANG, WINNER will be releasing a new album, followed by the highly-anticipated debut of iKON.

Yang Hyun Suk continued to explain, “The producing team and the members are giving up their Lunar New Year holiday to prepare the album. BIGBANG, iKON, and WINNER are all voluntarily staying in the recording studio. They’re working [on their albums] non-stop because they don’t want their flow to be cut off. They have already done a lot of work until now so a comeback in the first half of the year is very possible.”

When asked why BIGBANG is first in the comeback lineup, the CEO answered, “BIGBANG has not released a new album for the past three years. BIGBANG fans have waited the longest. I feel the most sorry to the fans for that. They’re currently in the middle of creating [the new album], but when I hear BIGBANG’s music, I get excited. Like meeting someone after a long time, BIGBANG’s music gives off that kind of feel. Songs that can combine BIGBANG’s distinct energy and charm will be included in the album. The songs change depending on who sings it. I came to learn that the artist may be more important than the song through BIGBANG.”

Finally, Yang Hyun Suk provided an update on the BIGBANG members’ recent whereabouts: “Once again, leader G-Dragon is taking part in at least half of BIGBANG’s album. The members are all discussing and currently working [on the album]. They are all living at the recording studio every single day.”

[Exclusive] “I Was Thrilled Listening to New Songs of BIGBANG To Come Back in April” & Then iKON's Debut

“BIGBANG Is Back”.

Group BIGBANG’s new album will be released in April.


YG Entertainment’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK confirmed in an interview with Daily Sports on the 12, “The first YG artist to come back in 2015 will be BIGBANG. They will release a new album in April”.

The new album of BIGBANG will come out three years after their previous album “STILL LIVE” that was released in June, 2012. BIGBANG has been recognized as the only idol group in Korea, who has both music quality and popularity. They have also long been the No.1 idol group. Their new album has been awaited by not only Asia but also the world.

YANG said in the interview, “We’re working on iKON and WINNER, too, but the first YG artist to come back this year is BIGBANG. I’m kind of nervous to say this, but yesterday, I heard new songs created by BIGBANG. They were better than any other song created by BIGBANG so far”.

“I was thrilled listening to their new songs. I was so excited to listen to BIGBANG’s music after a long absence”.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of BIGBANG’s debut. They have been continuously trained for songwriting, during those 10 years. Notably, G-DRAGON has already been one of the top-class songwriters in Korea.

YANG said, “The musical skills and ideas of BIGBANG have been culminating recently, in their 10th year from debut. The new album will be the highlight of their 10-year career. Listening to their new songs, I thought this is why BIGBANG is BIGBANG, the eldest and best artist of YG. Not only the title song but also every other song is great”.

BIGBANG’s new album is the one for which fans around the world have been waiting. This may be something to “look forward” for fans, but something that is “burdensome” for the label. YANG said, “This album is something that fans have long been waiting for. Of course, I have had high expectations for the album. Now, I’m quite satisfied with the outcome. I even feel like paying tribute to and respecting BIGBANG as an artist”.

At the end of the interview, YANG said, “WINNER and iKON, BIGBANG’s younger brothers, are doing their best for their new albums, too. As BIGBANG’s new album is really good, this year will be a very successful year for YG. I’m really looking forward to it”.

BIGBANG is one of YG Entertainment’s artists. They made debut with “LA LA LA” and has been the top K-pop artist ever since. Every album and song released by BIGBANG has become an album and song that represents the year. They have a lot of hit songs, including “FANTASTIC BABY”, “MONSTER”, “LIES”, “BLUE”, “LAST FAREWELL”, etc.

YG Entertainment told Star News on Feb 10, “The backbone of BIGBANG’s new album is being shaped and since February all the members have been coming into the office to work on the album.”

They said, “Despite their busy overseas schedule, BIGBANG is putting much effort in the album. They have been working on songs for a while so their new album is becoming more likely to be released earlier than expected.”

When BIGBANG finished their BIGBANG JAPAN DOME TOUR 2014-2015 ‘X’ at Osaka Kyocera Dome on Jan 18, Japan’s Sankei Sports and other media reported that “BIGBANG decided to release their first album in 3 years this summer,” and added, “GD said in a press conference prior to the concert that BIGBANG is looking forward to spending a summer where they can provide songs to fans to which they can sing and dance.” Sankei Sports also wrote, “50,000 fans were electrified when GD told them that he promises to come back with good songs.” Sankei once again emphasized that BIGBANG will be coming back with their first album in 3 years since 2012, titled “ALIVE.”

YG’s high-ranking official commented that the preparation for the new album is going very well, and fans are excited as it connotes they will be able to see the album before summer comes.

They added, “YG prioritizes the release of BIGBANG’s album. We know very well that fans have been waiting patiently for the album.”

They also commented, “The outcome is of real quality,” heightening the fans expectations even more.

All eyes are on YG’s five members to see what kind of music they will bring into the industry for the first time in 3 years.

Meanwhile, BIGBANG was in Japan across 5 cities to perform 15 times, joined by 741,000 fans for the BIGBANG JAPAN DOME TOUR 2014-2015 ‘X’. They went from Nagoya Dome (Nov 15-16), to Osaka Kyocera Dome (Nov 20-23), Fukuoka Yahoo Oku Dome (Dec 6-7), Sapporo Dome (Dec 20), Tokyo Dome (Dec 25-27) and Kyocera Dome again (Jan 16-18). They performed a whopping 7 times just at Osaka Kyocera Dome, breaking the record for dominating the stage for the longest period of time among all artists who ever visited the particular Dome.
